Situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, nestling between Ingleborough and Whernside, The Old Hill Inn is an ancient establishment of great character, which dates back to 1615. Originally a farm, then Drovers inn, now specialises in delicious home cooked food and excellent puddings.
A family of chefs runs the inn, Sabena Martin will warmly welcome you in when you arrive, Colin Martin, a famous pastry chef and sugar sculptor extraordinaire, whose spectacular sculptures are on display in the dining room, will create your desserts, while their son assembles the mouth-watering meals.
The Old Hill inn is a wonderful rustic English inn, run by the lovely Bean and her family, who create and serve the most wonderful locally sourced (often from the premises itself) food. Big delicious portions, packed with flavour, served alongside great ales. As someone else pointed out, do not drive past this eccentric beauty. Also, as someone who has.
My wife and I stayed at the inn for two nights, while friends stayed in their caravan at the adjoining site for a weekend of walking the peaks. The location is excellent for walking but is a way out of the village. We arrived quite late on the first night and were made very welcome by Bean and her staff.
Very friendly welcome from the lady of the house and her family. Well kept beer, magnificent food to an extremely high standard with a varied menu.Absolutely no problems with the clean comfy bedroom. Wouldn't change a thing - maybe move it nearer to home!
We had an overnight stop here during a 2-day walk with our Labrador. All 3 of us were made very welcome! The bar area is very old world and totally relaxed. The meal was amazing, especially the home grown pork! I didn't try the beer but the draft cider was wonderfully kept! The bedroom was lovely.
A homely place with roaring log fires, open beams, where Winston Churchill used to stay for hunting and fishing holidays. It’s a perfect place for a cosy meal and a pint of well-kept, refreshing beer.
With two beautiful en-suite bedrooms and a caravan site on the grounds, it makes an ideal spot to stay for any walkers wanting to explore the National Park or just anybody needing a peaceful getaway, while surrounded by stunning scenery.
